Once waste has been treated, material or thermal utilisation takes place. The aim here is to try to recycle as much waste as possible and use it to make new, high-grade recycling products.

Utilisation of biogenic wastes

Compost and soil products help to improve soil structure and are thus the most sensible way of utilising organic wastes. Organic fertiliser is sustainable, environmentally-friendly and promotes soil activity.

The following products are available from us:

Sewage sludge composting

Sewage sludge as a residue from primarily municipal sewage plants is processed together with tree and hedge clippings to make quality sludge-derived compost.

In the first step, the tree and hedge clippings delivered by trade customers, municipalities, associations and private customers are shredded.

The mixed material is placed on a ventilated rotting area in heaps. The compost is turned over every 4 to 7 days.

After around 4 months, best quality compost from sewage sludge and green clippings is ready which is used primarily in landscape gardening and construction for plants with increased nutrient requirements.

Our compost is tested at least twice a year in accordance with the guidelines of the Composting Act.

Waste wood recycling

Waste wood is an important secondary raw material. The treatment and preparation of waste wood creates a valuable raw material for the industry, e.g. for the manufacture of chipboard or to generate power and heat.

HolzREC, a company of the Brantner Group, employs special techniques and processes and specialises in the collection, treatment and preparation of the following materials for reutilisation:

  • Wood packaging (pallets, crates, boards)
  • Construction timber
  • Demolition wood
  • Old furniture (painted and unpainted)
  • Impregnated wood

Cable recycling

Cables are important raw materials. Through the recycling of used cables, new, valuable raw materials can be produced, including:

  • Industrial flooring
  • Edge protectors/transport protectors
  • Post covers

Construction and demolition waste recycling

Brantner operates its own construction and demolition waste recycling facilities for the processing of recyclable, quality-assured materials for the construction industry, including:

  • Recycling concrete (RB 0-63)
  • Civil engineering recycling material (RMH 0-8, RMH 0-63, RMH 16-63)
  • Brick sand recycling material (RZ 0-4, RZ 4-12)
  • Recycling asphalt (RA 0-22)

Producing refuse derived fuels (RDF)

Various plastic wastes and high heat value fractions from processing facilities are used as the starting material for RDF.

Altgas s.r.o., a company of the Brantner Group, has been operating an RDF facility in Slovakia since March 2005 and supplies material to the cement industry.
